Dogs take death of anyone that they were close to really hard. When my aunts husband died, her dog died a year later. Prior to her death, she was moping around because there was something missing: her dearly departed owner. Her health deteriorated very quickly. I'm not saying by any means that your dog will die, or anything. But, it may take a while for her to go back to her usual self. That part of her that the other dog took up will be gone forever. You can try introducing her to a new young pup that can become her friend, if you don't want another dog, then you can just try to show her as much attention as humanly possible and simply, love her. Show her that not everyone is gone and that things will be good again. Some people believe that dogs don't have feelings. But, I disagree. I think that sometimes, dogs' feelings are stronger then humans. That's why they get so depressed after a death. Just love her and show her that everything will be okay. I hope your pup feels better. A loss is always tough.

Hi there. With time, things will improve. Now is the time for more attention Take him on a ten minute walk once a day or twice if you can. Play with him with enthusiasm. Train him to do new things. Even 20 minutes a day can divert him away from his perceived loss.Dogs do get depressed and I would use medication as a last resort only. Getting another dog can be successful, but there also can be compatibility problems. Give it two weeks and see if your doggy turns around.Have a dog gone great year.

Get your dog a new friend, or give your dog a lot of extra attention, lots of exercise and toys and treats to keep your dog busy. A new dog friend might be the best. Take your doggy and go down to your local pound or humane society and let your dog help you pick her a friend. Just think you can make your dog happy and save a dog at the same time. This sounds like the best of both worlds. Good Luck.

You can walk her more, the endorphins released can help her cheer up. Does she have any doggie friends? Maybe a well-run doggie daycare once in awhile. Lots of extra support and love.

Try taking her to a Positive Reinforcement training class to get her out and give her something else to focus on. Teach her some tricks.

When YOU are ready, you might consider another dog, but be very careful about that. It can be good, or it can backfire.

awww that some times happens in animals. Especially is they were together for a long time. Try taking your dog out to a dog park to make some new friends and get her mind off things.

dogs grieve as people do, its as hard on the dog as it has been on you. try to love the dog more and when your ready, maybe go to the shelter and take your dog with you and both of you pick out a new friend and family member.

sorry for your loss!!!!

Dogs get very attached to each other and do grieve for them. Time will help. You need to give her lots of attention. She will get over it in time as will you. Sorry.
