Attendance Allowance is payable to people over the age of 65 who need help with their personal care due to physical or mental disability, but you must have had that incapacity for six months or more.

Take a look at the following website. It goes into a whole lot more detail.

It is an allowance given to someone who needs and extra bit of care - it can be given if you are unable to get yourself around easily - helps pay for taxis etc. or if you need help at home in the day or night. Helps you to remain independent. Forms available from your GP or on the NHS website. Lengthy but worthwhile filling in as this allowance really can make a difference.

Heya
Yes AA is for people over 65 who are sick or disabled.....ther's a great site from Age Concern - look for their FACT sheet about it.

The forms are a pain but when filling them in , you musy consider the "bad" days. The DWP don't know who the applicant is so you really have to spell it out.

Good luck.

DLA - Disabled Living Allownace is basically the same thing for under 65 yr olds

Basically for helping to care for somebady who could not live at homeif you did not help to care for them. My mum used to get it for helping to look after my Nanna, she used to go in and dress her every morning and night and cook her one meal a day. My Nanna was able to basically look after herself but struggled with a few things. The government would rather pay somebody to give some help so the elderly/ill/disabled person can stay in their own home, than pay for them to go into sheltered accomodation.
