The Mosaic Law forbade God's people to tattoo themselves. Leviticus 19:28: "You must not make cuts in your flesh for a deceased soul, and you must not put tattoo marking upon yourselves. I am Jehovah." Pagan worshipers, such as the Egyptians, tattooed the names or symbols of their deities on their breast or arms. By complying with Jehovah's ban on tattoo markings, the Israelites would stand out as different from other nations.--Deuteronomy 14:1, 2. While Christians today are not under the Law of Moses, the prohibition it laid on tattooing is serious. (Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:14, 15) So, a Christian should not want to make markings on their body, even temporarily, for it could cause a stumbling to others. (2 Corinthians 6:3) There are also health concerns that one should consider. Tattoos may be a fad, but many people have come to regret making permanent alterations to their appearance. Besides, what is "cool" to you when you are 16 might not be very appealing when you are 30. Think before you ink. Don't make a decision that you may regret later.

I have a discreet, pretty, ankle bracelet tattoo. Just because I happen to have one, doesn't mean I'm saying it's right or wrong; it's something to decide individually.
However, those tattoos that go up and down the body, where the person disfigures themselves, I am not in agreement with that.

Not if Jesus was the fulfillment of the law.
But, I do think it's wrong for anyone but a tattoo artist to be tattooing people. There are enough scratchers in the world already...

The Bible says that the body is the temple. Therefore you shouldn't do anything to desecrate it which includes what you eat, tattoos and even piercing to the body.

Why would it be wrong? What principal or commandment would you imagine that would break?
