He may be guarding you. This means he views you as an important resource and is not willing to share you, and can be very dangerous. Dogs can begin to guard almost any resource - sleeping area, food, toys, anything that is important to them. It means your dog believes he "owns" you and needs to keep you from competitors.
If I were to guess, I would guess that you provide the majority of care for the dog. Have your husband begin to take over some of the responsibility, like feeding him and walking him. There is debate about whether you should correct your dog when he guards you or whether your husband should, but I would use your dog's reactions to gauge the best method. Does your husband advancing towards him escalate the situation? If so, you should probably do it. If he backs down when your husband walks towards him, your husband may be able to do it. Next time he does it, whoever is doing the correction should stand tall and walk towards him confidently, saying "No" and physically coming between him and the other person. That should cause him to back off. Conditioning him to your husband's presence and affection is also key.
There is a long but extremely informative article about resource guarding here:
http://www.4pawsu.com/Donaldson.pdf
It primarily addresses food guarding, which is the most common form of it, but you can use the ideas and exercises to help overcome it.
My dog was EXTREMELY protective of me against my boyfriend whenever my boyfriend would try to touch me. It got to the point that if my dog ever became between me and my boyfriend, the dog would growl and lunge at him. And this was a dog that lived with the two of us together his entire life! It took a lot of time - and some missteps and backtracking - but now the dog and the boyfriend are the best of friends.

I've 3 dogs, one of which I got when he was 2 yrs old.He had been badly neglected, and it took a week even to get him to eat something.I gave him a great deal of love and affection, and he still gets it to this day.
However,he is prone to pushing his way to the front of the other 2 dogs for a pat, and when a human hugs me,he has to be right in the frontline, getting all the attention.
I need to be firm with him at times,as he can be overbearing. My dogs rarely get said "no" to,but this lovable chap does need to be shown he cannot be the star of the show ALL the time.
All the best with your problem.

My dog is okay with my husband hugging me, but if I get into bed first the dog will stand on my chest and snap and snarl at my husband for trying to get in bed!
Sounds like yours is very protective of you and thinks your husband might be trying to harm you or take your attention away from HIM. (I'm assuming it's a male dog because not a one of my three female dogs behave like that!)

Your dog thinks it's the alpha dog in your family. Your husband needs to show the dog that he's really the alpha dog. Dogs are pack animals and need to know where they 'stand' in the pack. Your dog's pack is now your family. Your husband won't hurt the dog's feelings by establishing that he's really the "alpha dog.'

My dog does that too, it normally means they are jealous and see your husband as a threat, you could try shouting at the top of your voice down and turn your back on your dog, or use a dog whistle.

Have you spent more time with the dog then your husband? It's because he/she is protecting you.
