Is he my "nephew in law" or just my nieces husband? Am I his uncle in law or just his wifes uncle? I know this is a stupid question but I need to ask. Forgive me.

Referring to him as your "neice's husband" seems to keep him at arms length and not really a family member.

Just welcome him into the family and call him your "nephew.".

I think it depends on how close you are to your neice. If your not that close, I would say he is your neices' husband. But if your really close and get along great that I don't see a problem saying he is your nephew. I claim all in neices' and nephews' mates. I think it makes it feel more like family. Good luck on your decision.

Well, can you not just call him by his name? "This is Jane's husband, Clyde" for instance? Any further explanation should be unnecessary unless they're checking him for breeding stock!
