yes, they love it. They put it in dog food, and they love garlic salami for training treats. I suppose some dogs won't like it, but most do. Chocolate and milk and onions are not good, but garlic is OK (cooked onions are OK too, like in stew) Garlic helps kill intestinal worms too, so it is good really

Some things eaten by tons, like a human sitting down and eating 15 gallons of ice cream, can make a person sick. Too much garlic is not good for a dog but garlic is a common ingredient in a lot of treats. Feeding your dog a whole clove of garlic could be bad but garlic as an ingredient in a treat is not.
And yeah, of course they can smell it.

oooh I would think it'd be a bit strong on their stomach. I know garlic is supposed to be good for getting rid of thread worm though so if that was a problem for the dog then you could give him garlic for that.

Garlic is toxic in large amounts. It belongs to the onion family and onions are very toxic in smaller amounts. Both Garlic and Onions can cause Heinz body anemia, resulting in a breakdown of the red blood cells and anemia. Lots of dog foods and treats contain small amounts of garlic which has not been found to cause any problems.
