My son is an engineer and he uninstalled 2006 before he installed 2007. That's good enough for me.
Be sure to run a full scan immediately after installation just to be safe.

No, not at all. In fact it will install right over.
I just Installed NIS 2007 and it is WAY better than I expected. It took a while to install, but it was worth it... top revision of a great product
