the holes and slits should do it, just wait for a few more minutes.

You can lower the temp for starters if you don't like the red. You also have to remember that the meat will still keep cooking a bit longer after you take it out of the pan. You can also cut a little slit in the center so some of the juice runs out, cover and remove from heat, and let it sit for a couple of minutes. When the meat is real hot, it will keep cooking. I wouldn't worry about it.

The first mistake you made was the decision to "fry". If you are going to eat steak well done (I can't imagine why) at least marinate it for a few hours first, then if you have no way to grill it then broil about 8-9 minutes per side. For now thouigh, lower the heat and cook slowly until it is at the temp you prefer. (leather though it may be).

The best way to serve steak is to put it in a hot pan for about 1 minute 45 seconds, flip it over, cook another 1 minute 45 seconds - then serve on a cold plate.

Normally, I'd say "Don't make it well done. That will ruin it," but you've already ruined it with the holes and slits. You're going to lose all the juices now. You may as well pour some A-1 on a hockey puck and have that.

Well for one, did you say you are "frying" a steak? That's just wrong but anyways. Put it back in the pan but on a very low heat so it will cook all the way through.

Personally I'd be eating it now. Well done is totally devoid of any flavor or texture; more like eating shoe leather. But if that's what you want, turn the heat down slightly and keep frying.

You want your steak to have some red in the middle. Well done steaks don't taste as good.
Go to a good steak restaurant and they may not even do well done steaks.

like others have said, the key to having meat or anything else cook all the way through is to use low-medium heat. when the heat is too high, the outside will cook faster than the inside.

you can eat it a bit rare, it wont make you sick. i think it might be too late but next time try cooking it on a lower heat, because on a higher heat the outside goes all crispy and then the inside doesnt cook.
putting it in the microwave or somthin like that wont work
