my dad smokes in the house whenever i ask him to go outside he gets mad whenever i bring up the subject. we are always fighting. he doesn't seem to care about any thing but himself. I left my dads house for a while when he got his 2nd owi. i said i would only come back if he didn't drink so much and if he smoked outside. he smoked outside for 1 day. I have been thinking about moving in with my mom because she doesn't drink or smoke at all, and we get along better. what should i do??

Go where you would be the most happy. You cannot "tell" your father to do anything. He is an adult. You may ask him to do something, but then it is still up to him. It's plain that his convenience is more important to him than your health. I'm sorry he feels that way, it is not fair to you.

Could you talk to your dad about how you've been feeling? Maybe if you let him know that his behaviour makes you so unhappy living there that you are considering moving, it could make him take your feelings more seriously.
However if you do that, and give him the chance to consider your feelings and his own about you leaving, and he still doesn't change, then he doesn't deserve to have you live with him.
It would be a horrible thing to have to accept that he is not able to change for you but this is unfortunately often part of relationships.
At the end of the day give yourself time to consider whats right for you to do, no one can give you the answer I'm afraid.

Second hand smoke is bad as we all know. BUT it is his house and if he chooses to smoke in his house there is nothing you can do. If you would be happier, go live with your mom. Plus with the drinking...you dont need it.....good luck!

u shouyld move in, depending who you get along with. if u like your mother better, then live there, but that doesnt mean that you live your dad alone. and even if he smokes, if u want to tell him to go outside, he can. but its addiction, smoking is addiction. if it bothers you, u can either run away from it, or ignore it. i suggest ignore it. if somebody smokes up the house, it will smell like cigar! lol
u can ask him in a nice way, and if he responds back mean to you, even as a son, then just leave it. but if he responds back and says "ok son" then its cool. take my advice. or, you can choose what u want with your fellow yahoo answers!!
its up to you. but good luck with the decision.

move in with yur mom, and yur dad is an adult and it's his house, he should be allowed to smoke in it but to keep you happy he should maybe do it his room, or somewhere designated if it really bothers you that much.... why weren't you living with your mom in the first place if you get along so well with her?????????????
