Neither - the few times it has happened to me, I got the feeling that I smelled like someone he knew and he wanted to know what the product was without asking this other person. In each time I felt like a reference more than anything else - like giving driving instructions to a stranger on the road.

Depends on who the person is and how they asked the question. Was it sarcastic, or did it seem that they thought your hair looked and smelled great. If you already had a creepy vibe from the person, then yeah it is creepy. But on the other hand, they may simply have been admiring your hair on a great hair day.

I would feel flattered..nothing wrong with asking..they may just like the way it smells or the way it looks..lots of people ask what kind of perfume you wear..no different

In general, flattered. It would most likely mean that they noticed the scent of your shampoo and enjoyed it or they would have kept their mouths shut.
