"Katrina estuvo aqui" it says but I think that u r talking about katrina the hurricane, so if that is the case is "Katrina paso por aqui", when you say "estabas" it refers about person to person, for example, "Tu estabas aqui" "you were here" talking person to person, face to face, so do u get it???

In order to know whether you need to use "estaba" or "estuvo", you need to brush up on your tenses. Here's the difference:

You use the preterite tense, in this case "estuvo", when the action has a definite beginning and end. For example, if you could substitute, "Katrina was here from 2 until 4 pm", then you would use estuvo.

You use the imperfect tense when there is not a clear beginning and/or end, often to say "used to ____". If "Katrina used to be here" makes sense in your context, then use "estaba."

So the correct sentence would be either,

Katrina estaba aquí.
-OR-
Katrina estuvo aquí.

Don't forget your accent mark :)

Use ESTUVO! Estaba is a whole other form of past tense. More like a "used to" or "imperfect" tense. Estuvo would be of the preterite past tense.

BTW: It comes from the verb "estar" which means "to be"
