I need the AREA of an irregular shaped surface, all I know is that the perimeter is 966 ' , and I need the square footage of the AREA and the formula to do it,I already did 2 different ways but the result comes out almost 16,000' off from one another.

If you have a drawing of the shape, you can draw a grid and count the squares. Count only the squares that are more than half full, ignore those that are not. That's the best help I can give you as I can't see the shape.

There isnt enough information for area you could treat it as a circle with the 966 being circumference then diamater is 307.496
then radius is 153.748 so near close area is 74496.77
pi x radius squared.
I am no engineer or even a math whiz so if I am not even close don't sue me.
adding this peice later .OK if you have a sketch with lengths of all the sides draw your own right angles and use the formula for solving right angles to find the length of the side you drew then calculate the areas easy.

If the perimeter is composed of straight lines (no curves), you can divide it into triangles, find the square footage of each of those, and then add them.

The easiest way (and most accurate) I can think of is to cut the figure in half. Then curve fit the two halves. All you have to do then is to integrate both curves.
