How much more money and time is it going to take for New Orleans to recover? Now the Government wants 100 big companies to help supply labor. The U.S. and the people have already sent billions and thousands of people have gone have swarmed down there to work. What if the place floods again, being 14 ft below sea level.

The chances are slim that another Hurricane will come like Katrina.. Never .. in the New Orleans history.. of its 250.. 300 years of age.. has this happened .. only 3 hurricanes have hit the city. and even if it does happen again.. it is well worth saving such a historic city. Its one of the very few historic cities that the US has.. not only New Orleans.. but.. Any City In the US Is WORTH SAving.. b/c .. its our home.. its somebodies home..

If BUSH didn't waste so much D*amn money in Iraq... We would have so much more done.. and If BUSH didn't take 4 days to do something about the Hurricane. The Canadian Military was here helping us before our own. Instead.. he wastes his time trying to rebuild a country that is none of our business.. instead of saving his own people

I think Mayor Nagin is requesting 600million more $

The problem is where has all that money gone? Those affected, the regular life time residents have not seen any of it. There are still many houses unliveable and just rotting away because people cannot afford to go back and fix it. Most of the people who got new homes didn't even own one to begin with, they were renters and now are being given homes! I had to leave cause there was no work other than construction and illegals and others not from New Orleans all came in and took the jobs. My landlord tripled the rent and so did many others. So basically the regular downhome people who made up the flavor of New Orleans got screwed. So yes we have heard about all the money donated to the people who lost their jobs, homes, friends, family, but did we see any of funds that were supposed to help? Not beyond the MRE's , water and ice that we stood in line for in the first month after Katrina hit. Oh and Nagin is a crook and an idiot, can't believe people re-elected him! So Nagin where is all that money going besides you and your friends pockets? Typical..........

Have you been there since Hurricane Katrina? I am not from the USA but visited last year and spent a week in New Orleans. If you have been there and seen the extent of the devastation then I do not think you would be asking this question. I was there a year after the hurricane hit and the devastation that is still there is terrible. It looked like the hurricane could literally have hit weeks ago, not 12 months ago. Are you suggesting by your last sentence that because of its location, New Orleans should just be left devastated? It seems a little compassion is required on your behalf! Maybe you can imagine someone asking you the same question if this devastation had hit your home city or town.

It's true, I don't think it will ever completly be recovered. It's not just New Orleans. They got the flood water but the places wiped out most is the places you never here about - like going further towards Mississippi. Some places are just getting electricity restored recently.

It really shouldn't take New Orleans long to recover. I give it within the next ten years.

Mississippi's a different story. That'll take decades to recover.

I think that New Orleans should be relocated or something. No levee is ever 100% good, as we saw in 2005.
