I was seeing a guy for a short time and he started to get distant with me. I went away for a long weekend and really didn't hear from him while I was gone. When I came back we made plans to get together this past Thursday. At the end of dinner he told me that he can't take our relationship to the next level that he is seeing someone else. Someone that he met right before me, he didn't think that relationship was going to work out then he met me. But they started talking again and he just feels more compatible with her. I know that it is for the best if he is just not into me, but it still hurts because I really did like him. Any words of advice to help me through this period?

Rejection is always painful. But, it is sooooo true that time heals all wounds. Yes, you are disappointed, sad and maybe a bit lonely, but use this time to evaluate what you learned from this short relationship. What things did you like about him? What things did you not like? Relationships help us build a list of our ideal mate. This was just another relationship in MANY that you will have over the years. God has a good plan for you, it just doesnt include this guy. Believe, me everything will end up working in your favor. And, one day when you do meet the man of your dreams, you will be so glad that this guy was moved out of your life, so that you could meet him.the man that was supposed to remain in your life forever. Remember - DON'T CALL HIM and keep yourself busy. It will get better!

OK I understand that you really liked him but he was getting distant. He choose somebody else over you. That tells you that he was not worth any of your time and that he has the potential to cheat on his other girlfriends at any time. You do not need that. You will find love again and it will be with a man that respects and loves you. The memory and hurt from him will fade and you will continue on. You are a strong woman and you CAN get through this with patience and time. I wish you the best of luck and love in the future.

You are correct in realizing that it is better to know now that you two were not right for one another. But i know it still hurts.I bet you would roll your eyes if i said that time heels all wounds hahaha. I am going though the same thing but in my situation we were married for 21 years, took us alittle longer to figure out we were not right for oneanther. Very very painfull but i can honestly say 2 months after we split i meet someone else and i cannot remember whats her name it will be ok use this time to watch some movies cause if you are like me i didnt want to be around other folks at first my daddy said oh be tough boy u do the same

Hmm, this is a good question. I'm not sure what to do but I know that whenever I have a question i go to this website and submit it for free. Here it is: mscasanova.bravehost.com-its brand new, so there are still some kinks, but just click on the page that says: submission it's really good. I get not only the answer to the question, but I also get like personal advice about what to do with further situations. It's really really helpful it like allows me like a page of personal feedbacl and i get to choose whether or not I want to publish the answer on the website or like to keep it private. try it!

Surround yourself with things (happy music, flowers, funny movies, etc.) that make you happy and try hard not to think about him, especially since you know this is for the best. Break ups always hurt. Even from the breakers end. Good luck.

My advice to you is to just pray about the situation. I know it hurts now, but you will get through this. Don't let this get you down, just think of this as a lesson learned. Be strong and continue to learn more about yourself. It will help shape you and prepare you for the man of your dreams. Hope this helps...
