My fiancee and I have been together for nearly five years and have been engaged for two. We've set dates and made plans but something always comes up,like his parents hate to day or complain about the food. It's a never ending cycle. So I decided on making most of the food myself, having a small wedding just family and a few friends nothing huge. But he still seems to be putting everything off, saying we don't have the money or making other excuses as to why we can't do it. I just don't understand what's happening with him. I already have my dress and my shoes and the meals are already planned but I'm just waiting for him. Is there anyone out there who can give me some advice on how to be subtle yet firm to get a date set and finalized?

Set the date for 6 months from now that gives you plenty of time to have enough money and if the parents have a problem with it too damn bad they had their day its your turn!

Are you sure you want an answer? I think you already know that there's no real subtle way to approach this with him. You need to talk with him about whether or not he's really committed to getting married to you. If the answer is no, it's better for you to find out now and go find someone who will be. It might be that his parents don't want him to get married! In that case, or if it's money, use your lovely dress, find a photographer you can afford and elope! And don't invite them.

Good luck!

Hey, girl, you're not really engaged unless you have a date! So why in the world would you have gone on and bought a dress and started making plans? It's obvious he is not wanting to finalize plans, so the RED FLAGS are screaming out at you - don't ignore them any more!

Seems like to me your fiance is getting cold feet, or is enjoying the free stuff he's getting and doesn't want it to change. You need to come up with a date and be frirm and tell him that it's the last time your making a date and if he doesn't like it or complains tell him I guess you really don't want to get married and break up with him. Because seems liek he's justs tring the date along.

Sorry Lady, but this isn't going to happen! What does it take for you to see that he likes things just the way they are! He gets everything he wants without any commitment! Time to move out and find a new boyfriend.

I would do just what you said...sit him down, get firm and tell him to pick a date and that is it. If that doesn't work then don't waste your breathe....you sound like a catch so don't waste your time trying to force him into a date...I am sure there are tons of guys who will be ready and willing.

Elope and leave the parents out of it. A justice of the peace is cheap and you can take your dress and shoes back to pay for the short trip. Tell them when you get back. If they want to throw you a reception let them plan it.

YOU SET THE DATE. END OF STORY. Give him a date and have his mother help with the plans.

Sorry...I hate to say it, but it really sounds like he doesn't want it to happen. Set a date and if it changes again maybe you should change boyfriends...

first off it is not they day it is both off yours if he don't set a date talk to him and if he is willing to set one make sure that the date pick is the date you both want if not move on girl and find you someone else .be brave and tell him the wat it is with you because it sounds like he don't want to marry you he is letting his mom and dad talk him out of it like i said you two got some talking to do.
