you can refridgerate them but it causes them to loss some of their natural flavor......but they last longer if refridrated if your going to store them for a period of time i would refridgerate them and lose the little loss of taste as to having buy more as the one that were not rotted.....then store them in your veg crisper in a bag with paper towels...then before using bring up to room temp for a while...

I think you got some bogus advise -- you CAN refrigerate tomatoes (but don't freeze unless you are planning to use them in marinara or to make a sauce cause they'll be mushy when you thaw them).
As far as preference goes... this is an on going debate in our house. I prefer them at room temperature but my husband prefers them chilled.
The nutritional value doesn't change much (however, fresh is always best) -- it just changes the texture of the fruit.

Nobody told me you can't refrigerate tomatoes and I've been doing it for the last 20 years!! I just make sure I let them reach room temperature before eating them as when they are too cold you can't taste the full flavour of them.

I refrigerate tomatoes all the time; I like them best when they're cold :-)

Just in case you meant Refrigreeze them, then the water in the tomato will freeze and turn the tomato to mush when you unthaw it.

At least it is still good for making spaghetti "tomato" sauce.

They turn "mealy". You should always leave them at room temperature. Refrigerate after cutting.
