Sometimes if a dentist or orthodontist has not done a proper job, the bite can be worse after braces. But this is not the norm. Most orthodontists want to straighten your teeth while at the same time giving you an optimal and functional bite. Sometimes it is hard to accomplish this task. It takes a great deal of experience to do it properly. Some dentists say that they "can do orthodontics" and perhaps they are OK for minor problems. But if your case is more than minor, an orthodontist is your best bet, because orthodontists have received years of special extra training in straightening teeth and correcting bites.
If you feel that your bite has been made worse after braces, you should discuss this with your orthodontist. Sometimes certain problems can only be corrected surgically. It all depends on your individual situation. Best of luck to you. Visit our website and connect with others in braces. You can even submit some photos to the message board and ask others what they think of your results, and for their advice.

If your orthodontists knows what he's doing you shouldn't! If you do have a problem, he should straighten it out. No pun intended. If you wear your retainer and keep your regular appointments you shouldn't have any problems.
