Labs are Goldens are the 2 most recommended breeds for families and elderly because of their naturally sweet dispositions. They are very smart and loving dogs. I have 2 black Lab puppies and am adopting an older female black Lab tomorrow. I love this breed!!! I have 3 young kids and they are wonderful with them!

Just about any Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Brittany Spaniel, etc. They are all sweet natured dogs and very friendly. Boston Terriers are good dogs of a small to medium size and very good family dogs.

Do some reasearch on the internet. animalplanet.com has some information about dogs and you can take a quiz to see what breed would be best for you.

I'd say a friendly mutt from your local pound. =)

Different purebreeds have different attitudes that sometimes aren't really good for someone who needs a dog that's good around EVERYTHING/EVERYBODY.

Out of all my dogs, the mutt is the friendliest and the most-loved by strangers. He's a lhasa apso mix. Idk what the other half is though... o_0
