No it is not bad, it is only bad if you don't be live in god, his son Jesus. the bible is story's, lessens. moral lessens of what type of person you would like to be or become. the bible, and going to church is like fuel, it will fill up you spiritual battery. if you have a hard time reading the bible try getting it on tape, and if you don't understand something ask someone that will know, IE Pasteur, priest. www.god.com

Well, it would depend on if you believe in the God the bible speaks of. How can you know it if you don't read it. It's kinda like being in a relationship with a new boyfriend: how can you expect to get to know him if you don't spend any time with him, you have to talk to him and let him talk to you. God is the same way. That's one of the ways He speaks to you through, His word (the bible). If you find it difficult, you have to pray, ask for understanding, and find you a bible that breaks it down for you and give you the interpretation of the meanings of things as it was back then. Be encouraged!

Bless your heart! It's best if you do read the Bible so that you don't take my word or anyone's word on what it says. Pray before you read it that God opens your understanding. Also, you can get an audio bible and listen to it. If you do a searh on the internet, you can even find free mp3 bibles that you can listen to any time. Also, if you have any questions, just write them down and speak with your pastor or an elder of the church.

I strongly believe that you should not accept anything on blind faith. Blind faith allows you to believe anything. I strongly believe you should know who you are worshiping. There is a lot of horrible stuff in the Bible that you won't be told about in Church. Why in the world anyone would worship the God portrayed in the Old Testament is beyond me. The Old Testament writers got it right when they called him a terrible God.

I also reject the writing of the self proclaimed apostle Paul, who never met Jesus in his life! It becomes obvious if you read it for yourself that Paul perverts the teachings of Jesus Christ. All those weird doctrines and dogmas the Church clutches onto came from Paul, not Jesus. In truth, Christians who follow church doctrines should rightly call themselves Paulians.

The teachings of Jesus Christ on the other hand, have great merit and are truly inspired. I think you will really enjoy what Jesus, himself, has to say. His is a simple message; that if we have true love for God and one another we can have heaven on earth, here and now. What do people think when he said "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand"?

Thomas Jefferson said the true teachings of Jesus were "like finding diamonds in a dunghill" I could not agree more with his assessment.

It is better to read it. Try picking a book of the Bible ...may be Daniel, Proverbs and John and read them using different translations on Bible Gateway. You can change tranlsations and see which is easier to understand. The New Living Translation is probably a good one to start looking at.

Angel, if you truly have trouble with reading, there is no reason why you could not buy the Bible on tape or CD. Lots of thrift stores have these occationally and usually quite reasonably priced. It is very important that you hear God's word or read God's word for yourself because it is the only contact that we have with him right now and he believed it was important enough to make this provision for us.

I think you should read the Bible. The old Testament is confusing . Lots of people Lots of stories some very boring some very exiting. I would start with the NewTestament and focus on the person of Jesus.

millions of people never read it, and there are lots of different versions anyway, I don't feel any wiser or better for having read it, it just gives you ammo against those bible-thumpers who pick and choose what to accept in it, if you can quote scripture back at them that belies their claims against others (ex homosexuals, etc). Don't forget, it's just a compilation written and arranged by men, it's not like God wrote it... it's all based on ancient politics

I have ADD(to the extreme yeah!) and I don't take meds.I try. That's why it took me so long to read the thing. I can't concentrate!
I pick up the Bible, read a few chapters, but always end up off in space, asleep,or reading Anne Rice books instead.
=/
Coffee helps.
Its not bad to not try I think. It all depends on what you think is right really.
