if i wanna make a pound cake the size of a banana bread loaf, can i cut the recipe in half so i don't make more than i need??

You could but when you finish the 1/2 pound cake, you will wish you had some more to eat. Especially if it is a 7 Up Pound cake which I think is the best. If you have never had one and are going to make a pound cake, why not give it a try. You will love it. The recipe is on this site.

Yes - as long as you're very precise with your measurements. However, you might consider making a full recipe, putting the other half in a similar pan (uncooked) and freezing it. Then, then next time you want a pound cake, all you have to do is pop it in the oven!

certainly, but why not save the trouble and make two. Otherwise you will have a half pound cake.

I think you can, however I would just watch how hot you cook it and how long as it wont need quite as long however half the time might be too short. Good Luck. (you are making me hungry!)
