Pascal's wager:
"If god exists, it's infinitely better to believe, since you get heaven instead of hell for eternity. If he doesn't, it doesn't matter since you're dead anyway. So overall it's better to believe"
This is, of course, false.
Some of the problems with the argument:
* The implied assumption that god may exist (with a 50% probability, no less!)
* The assumption that there is an afterlife with a heaven and hell
* The assumption that the god cares about belief in him/her above all else
* The assumption that if you believe in a god, it will definitely be the same god that actually exists.
* The assumption that you lose nothing if it's false. You have lost a great deal, from time praying to a nonexistent entity (somebody mentioned just today praying several hours a day!!!) to morality (your god may ask you to hurt other people) and much more besides.
* The assumption that people can believe in something simply because it benefits them. Would you believe goblins exist for twenty bucks? Why not?
* The assumption that any god won't see through the "believing just to get into heaven" ploy.

Whilst yes, to be with Jesus would be nice when I die...I would love to 'connect' in some way with lost loved ones and ride out my spiritual time in a state of familiar, loved bliss....I fear the church however, would probably have me roasting in the fires of hell for eternity because I commit the daily sin of considering his human creations as imperfect-capable of the most evil, heinous and monsterous acts imaginable.

Nowhere near scummy Jesus...
Would want to be at Greek and Roman goddesses of love and sex, Aphrodite and Venus's nookie (ie sex) party having lots of fun whilst Odin and Thor (the viking gods) play heavey metal music so we get good mosh pits going.
Plus getting to check out the ladies changing rooms invisible.
and having a great time.
Why would you want heavey ... not alowed to do anything fun and only kiss some sexsit, repressed homophobs butt and brown nose the git

What you have here is the conviction that what you believe is true. Not surprising, since humans are required by their biology to believe in something, and most of us enjoy the idea that we believe what we do because of our wisdom and good sense, but the truth is that you don't know, do you?
You cannot be certain that what you believe is true. There are moments, aren't there, when you wonder if the things people have told you about God might not be 100% accurate.

Not only Jesus, but Buddha, Zoroaster...and other Messengers of God also love mankind.
All souls who are consciously faithful to the One True God will eternally enjoy the love and knowledge of the One True God. Therefore, I choose to love God and to love all mankind.

Jesus loves me? If I accept him I'll spend an eternity with him. But if I don't accept him I'll spend an eternity suffering? Well, he doesn't sound like someone I'd like to be around, so I'll happily take the 'risk'.
As to eternity, when I die I expect there to be nothing.

If I die today and there is a god let that god place me with the tigers in any way, just so I can be close with them for that is my dream.

I'd like to spend eternity in Tahiti with a bunch of atheists and rock stars.
But...you weren't really interested were you? This was just a drive-by preach.

Just promise me that I will not have to spend eternity in heaven with a million self righteous, bigoted, intolerant Christians and I'll be happy wherever.
