You can get any brand of card. Don't take the ones they send in the mail, because they rip you off on those. Research and compare programs online. You may want to pay a monthly fee if it keeps your interest rate lower. Also, make sure the rates and terms are not going to change after a certain period. The best hting though is to be sure that you pay it off each month.

Go to your bank and get a prepaid Visa. Say you deposit $500 into your account. You will be issued a credit card, but you will only have a $500 spending limit. This will help build your credit. You can also get a department store or gas station credit card. Use them only when absolutely necessary, and pay your bills on time.

Go to your local bank and explain your situation. They will give you a low limit credit card. Usually Visa or MasterCard.

Charge a few things on it every month and pay your bills in time. Your credit rating will blossom.

If possible open a checking account too.
