For a long while now, I have been feeling quite disorientated and dizzy, i feel like I'm not really in the here and now, and I feel very off balance. I hardly drink alcohol and never take any illicit drugs. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this may be? its really starting to inhibit my life now, I don't feel like i want to go out much anymore as it's such an effort to concentrate, and I'm not happy in my job, but i don't have the confidence to look for anything else. I'm also feeling very tired very quickly. I'm also seeing lights flashing past my eyes and it tend to happen in waves, and Ive noticed that loud noises make it alot worse.

You could be suffering from any number of problems... see a doctor before taking advice from a stranger. But since you have asked, you could be suffering from a form of migraine (hallucinatory/visual migraine). You could be suffuring from the effects of depression. Also, some symptoms may be dependent on your drinking habits. If you binge drink (not saying that you do) or if you drink to excess your body might be trying to tell you something. Again, a doctor is the best person to ask. Good luck.

I have these same feelings once in a while...I feel that I am watching the world and things through "Tunnel vision" or a T.V. screen...I'm not there...It is very hard to explain to others but you seem to sum it up very well and I understand what you describe...Sometimes I grab my head to hold it still...My son asked me yesterday, why I do that? I never realized I did that until he brought it to my attention..I even forget words when talking...
My doctot. has diagnosed me with "Clinical Depression", anxiety, and phobias....I am sad all the time and don't like to do the things I used to love....Some days I don't even care if I get out of bed...I too have trouble concentrating and when I voice my opinions about anything, I get "strange" looks from others...

you said you avoid illicit drugs but watch out for the ones your Dr may give you too many have bad side effects and when used with some others can be very dangerous

I agree with the silent migraine call, although it is possible that there is also something going on in the inner ear. This link describes the same symptoms:

You are having the same thing my Dad has. He has been diagnosed as having silent Migraines. He has the symptoms but no pain. Asked your doctor about it and try some migraine medication and see if it helps.

Are you dehydrated? Have you not eaten? Make sure you eat and especially drink because human bodies can go days without food, but not water.
