The complete quote, I believe, is: "If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, I will answer you: I am here to live out loud." If that's not the correct quote, please correct it. Thanks a lot!

Interesting,

I located it. Harder than well this would be something few who are not able to read some French could have even tried. I am saying even in French it was difficult to locate!

... ces deux affirmations de Zola : • Si vous me demandez ce que je viens faire en ce monde, moi artiste, je vous répondrai : je viens vivre tout haut.

If you ask me what I come to do in this world, me artist, I will answer you: “I come to live very high”.

Also on the web:
Emile ZOLA: My definition of a work of art would be, if I formulated it: A work of art is a corner of the creation seen through a temperament. … If you ask me what I come to do in this world, me artist, I will answer you: “I come to live very high.” It is all that I found for the moment.

Zola publiera, dans Le Salut Public des 26 et 31 août 1865, un article intitulé : Mes Haines, Causeries littéraires et artistiques

Thanks to Kayann01 for a lead. If you had a better command of French you would have located this one.

Merci Beaucoup
