I had my computer out in the living room, which i think was a big mistake. I had roomates and it became the communal computer. Since I was not home all the time, I could not monitor what everyone was doing all the time. They would use it and download things (games, files. etc.). Spill stuff and dirty it. My computer ended up getting a virus from all the crap everyone was downloading. It got messed up so bad that everything had to be erased. I lost everything! Assignments, papers, file, music, etc.

The same thing happened to my roomate's laptop.

I finally got a new computer and i know it sounds selfish, i keep my computer in my bedroom and lock the computer so no one can use it! When you pay hundreds of dollars on something, you have to do all you can to keep it in good shape. I don't want the same thing happening to this new one!

You could make a little "office", and put your computer in there!
