My friend has been dating this guy from her job for a while now, and I warned her not to mix business with pleasure because then it would make the workplace feel awkward. So then she decided to and tell him that she wanted to persue the relationship on another level, otherwise known as becomming a couple, and he told her that he's not looking for a relationship BUT shes very special to him. I told her that hes basically saying he doesn't like her. She got mad when I told her this, so am I right with saying that him saying that she was very special to him meant that he doesnt like her in that particular way?

You was just keeping it real with her! And thats what a good friend would do. I don't blame you for trying to warn her... but I guess she'll have to learn on her own. I don't think she should be mad at you though. Give her some time, and she'll come to her senses! Good Luck

I think you were right when you say that you shouldn't mix business with pleasure. What i think he is trying to tell her is that she is only special in times when he "needs" her. In other words when he wants pleasure he will make sure to call her. Maybe he doesn't like her for a serious relationship and only wants her for a fling once in a while because he knows not to mix business with pleasure. She shouldn't be messing with guys like that they are no good and i bet she could find much better.

i totally disagree with the first answer. if she had known how to give him that special feeling, he would have been ready to commit . deep inside every man is looking for that perfect someone- witty, unpredicatble and the most important, emotionally stable, balanced.
you were right after all but u should have spared your friend's feelings perhaps and keep it to yourself....although u tried to do her a favour, she didn't understand that it might have been her fault in the failure of the relationship. u seem to be knowledgeable about what men actually think behind their words. but i don't think there was any sweet way to lay the cards on the table for your friend. if she really deserves to be your friend, she will realize you were right and thing swill eventually sort out. if she's grown-up enough

It could mean so but it could also mean he is not ready for a relationship yet but will see what happens later if she is special and he didn't say lets just be friends

If your friend is sleeping with him, then she's very "special" to him. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk free?
Or it is simply a harmless little crush. Maybe he cares about her as a friend and nothing more.

No, unless you wanted to ruin the friendship. You should have told her to find someone who wants a relationship with her. See, look at the glass half full not half empty.

You`re so right, because when u love somebody and u r so secure about that person, you get married, you don't think about that, it sounds like this typical phrase, "Is not you, is me", she`s blind, and the only wise way to help her, is moving away from her, sounds crazy but that works.

it's because this man doesn't want to mix pleasure with work at least not officially and yes you are right about that
