I know it's weird, but am I alone in this? I hate even my husband knowing when I'm on the loo. I usually put a layer of loo paper down or run the tap so that no one can hear me.

No, you are not alone. I don't personally have this problem (other than the pong thing, I think everyone gets that, unless you are truly oblivious), but I know a lot of people who won't even go to the bathroom unless they are in their own house, and even then some will only do it when they are alone. Also, I used to have a boss that would run the taps when she used the loo, even if she was only going pee.

I know people like this and I feel sorry for them. It's easy to get over your embarrassment just by loosening up. Most nurses I know are quite comfortable using the loo in company because they see other people doing it. Similarly people who go camping and tramping and have to use doorless toilets in front of others. Just to start off with, get used to talking on the phone when you're on the throne, then it will get easy. Pooing is one of life's most underrated pleasures. It's nice to share it with friends.

The only time it really bugs me is when I am in public and there is only like me and one other person in the restroom. I guess most of all it isn't a big deal because I am from a big family and sooo let's just say that I have been walked in on by a number of kids.
