American Staffordshire is teh best, because American Staffordshire loves the familly chilldren, and loves everything about u and the familly~ A pitball terrier are just un kind sometimes, and some are very dangerous, and rough! Pitball terriers are for hunting mostly, and thats y there THOGH! and American Staffordshire are kinda like a rescue dog/Pointer too!

American Stafforshire Terriers and American Pit Bull Terriers are ESSENTIALLY THE SAME DOG!!! The difference is how they are registered. The AmStaff is registered through the AKC because the AKC didnt want a dog with the name "pit" in it. AmStaffs are more conformation/show dogs out of the two of them and APBTs are the workers, but they have the same temperment.

Anyone who says otherwise, doesnt know their Bully Breeds. LIke some of the above answers. An AmStaff as a "pointer?" Uh, no. Search and rescue dog, yes! But AmStaffs and APBTs are two lines of the same breed. Either one would be a good choice.

Honestly, you'd be better off choosing a breed that doesn't have such a strong "attack the small prey" instinct as the ones you've mentioned. While almost any dog can be trained to behave appropriately around small children, there are some dogs that instinctively want to attack anything small, moving, and noisy. Such as children. If you do get either of these breeds, you'll have to spend a great deal of time training the animal in order to ensure that your children are safe at all times. Also, some cities have ordinances prohibiting the adoption of pitbulls, so you might want to check that out, as well.

Though they're a bit of a cliche, golden retrievers really do make wonderful family dogs. They're loyal, as well as caring and gentle with children, and in my experience will do just as good of a job protecting you and your family as a more aggressive breed.

I think you would be safest with a Rottweiler. They love kids! But don't beat your kids or the dog will get you. They are also the best guard dog on the list of top 10. It's nice to have home security that works for food. And, let me tell you, they are loyal as they come! Do some research & you will find I'm right.

they say most breeds are good dogs and rightly so. but it takes a good trainer a firm control and obedience. but around children the best dogs are the ones that usually do not have a tag of being aggressive. l would think a lab would be nice or a coolie, but which ever, don't go towards the aggressive breeds.they usually listen to one person so try to get a dog that will listen to everyone in the family especially the children. happy hunting.

In my experience with the breeds neither. But it depends on each dog and you may get lucky and find one that is good with little kids. I haven't had much luck at all with Terriers with little kids as little kids have a habit of pulling ears and stuff until they learn not too and every terrier I have been around would growl at the little kids because of it.

Both are great dogs. I personally prefer pits though. :-) Oh, and heads up, American Staffordshirt Terriers aren't really terriers.

I would suggest getting a Goldenpoo. It is a combo of a golden retriever and a poodle. 2 smart dogs combined into one. That makes this dog highly intelligent and they are great with kids.

The "Staff" would be the better choice. Pitbulls just aren't trustworthy.
