Kodak has a good tutorial for beginers on how to take better photos at www.kodak.com. I have a Kodak 6490. I think they have come down to about $200 dollars now. Any Cannon camera is going to be good quality. I have heard good things about the Cannon powershot. The best editing program is Photoshop. I do not have paintshop pro but I hear it is a good program also.
