Most hardware stores (like home depot) sell lead free solder for plumbing.

For electronics, leaded solder is easier to use because of the lower temperature it melts and because it contains cleaning agents. It will probably soon be banned all over the world because Lead which makes the solder less brittle and lowers the melt temperature is bad for the environment when dumped. Some hardware stores have it. All electronic component stores have it. Some consumer electronic stores like RS might have it too.

You need to specify what kind; there are now three. Acid core tin-lead solder can be used for soldering gutttering and other sheet metal. Electrical solder is rosin-core tin-lead. Plumbing solder is tin and antimony, and requires a separate flux. Get electrical solder at stores such as Radio Shack; the other kinds can be got at a hardware store.
