Homosexual marriages should be legalized because it's unconstitutional not to legalize it; it's against our human rights..
It will not affect the heterosexual population nor will it drive heterosexual women and men to divorce their spouse to marry a homosexual. So it's complete bull to be against something of such nature if it's only going to be good for the economy.
Marriage= money= economic growth
Gay people will never go away...when will people realize that? And not only that but the younger generations are becoming more accepting of them, by margins 6 to 1.
... It's funny because when people think of same sex marriage they think of what they do sexually...and why doesn't anyone think of what heterosexuals do ? Rape little kids....abuse women....abuse men...do crazy ritualitic crap like burning/killing people of other nationalities..
Homosexuals are being deprived of their state level benefits...and protection.
And for people who think this will lead to polygamy...
Polygamy is not only confined to the Islam faith, or errant Mormon cults. Many pagan and deist faiths practise this, and also many indigenous peoples in the remoter regions such as UTAH. Believe it or not.
And what the hell is wrong with all these people trying to control other peoples desires in life....what the hell do you know? And the bible? We are ALL sinners.. so if i must speak in religious terms I believe even homosexual people should be allowed to pray and worship God and yes even get married....Why should they be anydifferent than you? Theocracy is the worst form of government..because there are tooooo many different people in this country with different beliefs. So if you're not fully catholic or christian , you go to hell? I'd think not.
Try forcing a gay person to marry a straight one....you'll get a divorce right before you know it because homosexuality is stems nuerologically in our genes... it's been around since ancient times and it will continue and no matter what anyone says HATE CRIMES WILL NOT PERSIST OVER JUSTICE and definately it will oneday be legalized.

there are many people here talking about the word of god and the bible but did you know the very first book ever published was the bible and it was done as a publicity stunt during the depression. Everyone says god this and god that but where is this so called god and if he/she/it isn't here then who are we to stop same sex marriage. If god didn't want same marriage and he/she/it is as powerful as you claim then why hasn't this god stopped it!!!! The decisions to have a same sex wedding or to even be in a same sex relationship are up to those who are in those relationships. It does say everyone has the right to be equal and if equality stops at same sex couples then none of us are equal. We all also have the right NOT to be discriminated against, and who said it was only supposed to be just man and woman anyway.

Marriage is already defined. Redefining the word marriage would be opening a legal Pandora's box. Legally same sex bound relationships should be able to be called something else.

The issue of same sex marriage is a debated that should not be debated. For Congress to tell people they can't be married is simply a violation of their right to freedom of expression and falls into the civil rights as well.
Though, there are those who believe the allowing of same sex marriage can lead to people wanting to married animals, for example. However, they are not looking at other issues by preventing two people who are dedicated to each other to be recognized by the world as a legal family.
Again, I believe that if two people want to be married then they should. This is no different from blacks not allowed to drink from the same water fountain as whites. It is ashame no one sees the similar.
But, we are boomed to repeat our history.

Absolutely. It's not fair that a man and a woman have different legal rights than same-sex couples. Not just the union of marriage but the division of assets, rights when it comes to children, etc. When blacks were freed from slavery 200 years ago half the country was outraged. When women were given the right to vote it was a scandal. Today, we look back and think, "Holy crap, were those people barbarians?" I think generations to come will see the gay marriage debate in the same light.

I believe passionately that this is something that should be afforded to same sex couples as well as straight couples. I can't understand the logic behind why it shouldn't be legal.I mean, if two people are adults, love each other, and want to make the decision to spend their lives together, it's not harming anyone, then why not let them?
I've been with my same sex partner for 7 years. We have a happy, functional relationship and are very much in love. While I don't need some piece of paper to prove that, it would still be nice to be able to have it anyhow.
Just my 2 cents.

Yes. Why not? I mean is it really a big deal? America is so ******* brainwashed by the bible, they act as if there can't be any exceptions. I am not gay by the way, but i hate how everyone uses the "bible" card. UHM, do you really think people just wake up and choose to be gay? I don't. Why would someone choose to be one of the most hardest things in the world for other people to accept? I think its hard enough that "so called Christians" judge you. This is America, people will be gay, straight, bisexual, whether we have a problem with it or not. I feel like you don't have to like it, but who are you to tell two people that they can't get married because YOU don't agree with it? If they will be condemned to "HELL" then let them go happily. I don't really care. I can't hate on someone who lives honestly, and is being true to themselves. Its better than being on the DOWNLOW.

YES.
Marriage is all about love and wanting to spent the rest of your life with the person your in love with.
It has nothing to do with gender at all... it has to do with LOVE.
You fall in love cause you care about that person, you share the same interests, likes, dislikes, and so much more. Marriage is taking Love to the next level.
Same sex marriages are just like Striaght marriages.... its 2 people who want to be united and show how much they love each other in sickness and health and till death do us part :-)

Seperation of church and state=the bible and what the bible says means NOTHING. Absolutely worthless piece of trash, burn all bibles when it comes to legislating the law of the US. That is in the constitution, that is the supreme law of this land.
Personal opinion about gay marriage=equally WORTHLESS. We don't legislate personal opinions in a free country. Toss those in the trash too (hey, most yahoo answerers belong in the garbage, what do you know!)
Freedom, liberty, equal rights=gay marriage should be legal. In fact, the government should have absolutely no say in marriage of any kind. It's a religious and personal issue, not a government issue.

I think the word "marriage" is the problem. Marriage is more or less a religious connotation and religions believe that homosexuality is a sin. I have no problem with same-sex civil unions. I think anyone who wants to enter into a partnership where they can make legal and medical issue decisions like heterosexuals is no skin off my nose.
