Kind of a stupid question but I want to know if taking a shower in the morning versus taking a shower at night would affect acne? I take one at night and I break out all the time, but most of my friends take one in the morning ( or both ) and have little or no acne at all. I am on Tretinoin which is a gel for the acne I put on at night, and it takes 12 weeks to start working and its only been week 7 now and it has gone back and forth from good to bad.

But would frequent showers help? I am EXTREMELY desperate to get rid of this acne, and i've ALREADY BEEN TO THE DOCTORS SO DON'T SAY SEE THE DERMO, ALREADY DID IT

I don't think taking a shower at night would worsen acne. But your worrying about that might. Try not to worry about it - it is usually just a phase. Worry triggers stress hormones which can make matters worse. Do you take a zinc supplement as this is know to help acne. Ask an assistant in a health store for further assistance on that but the typical dose is 15mg a day and needs to be taken in combination with copper (2mg) if taken for longer than a month. Also: Vitamins A and E are important for acne prevention. Read this: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/38180/vitamins_a_e_and_zinc_helping_with.html
You could just take a good quality multivitamin and multimineral supplement to supply these vitamins and minerals mentioned.
Don't stress or you will make matters worse. Just relax as it is earlydays for the treatment to kick in also .

i doubt taking showers at a certain time has any affect on getting acne or not. i take showers at night and i hardly have acne. and taking frequent showers wouldn't help either. i believe when you try too hard to get rid of the acne, more and more of them shows up. try not messing too much with your acnes. keep your face (if that is the area of acne) a little moist but not too oily.

ever tried proactive? i know many people who had really bad acne and that really help clear their faces.

When you bathe or shower makes absolutely no difference. In fact, showering at night just before you put the Tretinoin is probably the best way, since the shower will open up your pores before applying the ointment.

I wouldnt think the time of showering would make any difference to the acne, but what you are using in the shower might! Find out what shower gel/soap your mates use and give one of them a try;

Well, I don't know how old you are, but if you are a teen I would just say "Welcome or hormonal, teenage life", if your an , then just remember to always wash your face in the morning and at night. You won't need to worry about taking a shower in the night AND in the morning as long a you wash you face either time of day.

I don't think the shower has as much to do with it. I suggest making sure regardless of when you shower, that you wash your face before bed and in the morning. I have had friends who had GREAT success with Proactive and another friend who had luck with Arbon's acne wash. Good luck.

What time you shower won't matter as much as other things... do you change your pillows, and wash your pillow cases regularly? If not, the unsightly bacteria on your pillow is going right into your freshly cleaned pores.
Also, be sure to drink plenty of water, don't touch your face, and be aware of your eating habits. Greasy food = greasy pores.
Give your meds time to work though.

Acne has nothing to with when or how often you take showers.
