what does tillkannagives in Swedish mean in English, taken from an obituary?

The entire obituary is written in the Swedish language. I cannot find this word through searches online. Please help!!!

Lame_spinner is almost spot on. "Tillkännage" means announce, notify.The word is almost exclusivey found in formal texts or in old texts. "Tillkännagives" is the passive present tense. "Härmed tillkännagives" means "It is hereby announced".

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that it means something like: notifies/announces/informs.
