Do you view that as bragging or being snobs? OR do you view that as them being proud of what they have and what they have done or accomplished?

maybe they just want to talk to you -and they have more interesting stuff to say than you--why put a negative spin on it??

Depends a lot on the person's age, too. Lots of older folks love to reminisce on their personal adventures and the lives they lived. -Sometimes to the point of boring repitition. But sometimes we have to humor them and let them live in the past. They don't have a lot to look forward to in life, and they are re-living it all.

Then there's the young people who obviously aren't old enough to have had the experiences they claim. These are the ones who are generally hiding their low self-esteem behind grandiose claims, makling up stories and boasting for the attention and ego-boost it gives them. Trouble is, the more stories they tell, the more lies they have to tell to justify themselves. Pretty soon their whole life is a lie and they are living in a fantasy world of their own making. Usually, if you're alert, you can catch them up on details, but they'll also often be quick to think up a counter to that too. Some older folks who've really done nothing at all remarkable in their lives, also can fall into this category.

The ones who are telling the truth, regardless of age, may be just bragging for the attention, or are truly convinced that their audience actually cares. And sometimes we do, if the story is interesting or fascinating.

If they say it repeatedly then it's kind of bragging and showing off. But if it's just a one time thing or someone asks them about it then it's just them proud of what they've accomplished. It's always fun to share stories, but not over and over again.

Good question, it depends on the person who is saying it. If its by someone in a loud, pretentious way then that would really get on my **** and I would see them as bragging, however if its by someone who is very discreet and only mentions it when you have asked them then I think of it as an achievement.
