I say a hundred lashes, and a hanging, for preditors who murder and rape children....
why don't we burn people live on the stake anymore? Shame.....
What do you think this "Duncan" person deserves?

oh, I'll make this Q religious:
Christians...What are you good for now if you don't torture and kill criminals anymore,
the least we can do is give it to those who REALLY deserve it....
come on now.

Esweetpea: the flaw in your 'compassion' logic is that it is misplaced and you are giving it to those who don't deserve it.
remember, one life for COUNTLESS destroyed lives and that person will never feel the equal torture and anguish he caused to numerous people.
You see? So when you say 'it will not bring them back, or you get another dead person.
GOOD! Some people need to die. Not only do they need to die, but they should also get good justice for what they have done for their crimes-- for this man, I say burn him.
I'm an atheist, so screw Ghandi and Jesus, people need to get justice.

enaronia: You miss the big difference hun, one person DESERVES it for destroying MANY.
You are all up your bum with your ideals, but if it were YOUR kid that got abducted, tortured, raped and murdered, YOUR EFFING tune would change.

Oh, eventually they will get what is coming to them. Just be patient. Juries are not very forgiving to people like that.

True Christians have never tortured and killed.
I feel the same anger when I hear of people harming and raping children. Every time I hear of that, I do think up some terrible things to do to the person.
I know God will some day deal with them. One thing is clear, we should make sure the person is never again in a position do do what he did. I would combine castration with life imprisonment. (like putting a double lock on the door).
You seem to be angry enough to be involved personally. A family member? Your child? Yourself? Whichever, you have every right to be angry. I have seen very close up the long term consequences of this kind of thing.

But remember, two wrongs don't make a right. Killing a person who kills won't bring back the original victim--you just get two dead people.
If killing a predator is the only way to keep him/her from killing again, then I guess the death penalty is in order. But, as Gandhi says, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Retaliation makes your soul dirty. That's why vengeance is for God or the lords of karma, or whomever is in charge of these things. I'm all for containment and protecting further victims, but more death is not the answer.

My humanity says yes execute them, at least that way they can't do anymore harm. But where's the punishment in that, to snuff out a miserable existence just means an end to his life nothing more. Pain should be inflicted for a long time before death.

In Southern Alabama, where I live, there is a remedy for people who molest children. It involves some rusty nails, an old stump, a rusty knife, and some gasoline....
While I understand that Christians should have compassion on sinners, I also believe to the depths of my being that Christians have a mandate to protect our little ones.

I agree with you public executions should be brought back. People shouldn't be allowed to sit on death row for twenty years and right books and make movies. Most people would disagree with me and say we are to civilized to do this but the lack of action is only making this world a worse place to live in for the good people.

1 "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. 2 It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.
God has a special place for people such as these.

Yeah hang them in a public square. shoot them , run them down with a vehicle. Whatever the victims families see as justice. myself if it was one of my own children the predator would just cease living. wouldn't even make to a courtroom.

What makes people "scum" who "really deserve it"? What they've done, right? And now you're saying that you think we should do the same kind of thing?
I see a problem.

I'm a Christian, and i think someone should tell this guy that Christ died for him, give him the chance to repent and trust Christ, then whether he does or not, publically execute him.
