...describes the parallel teachings of virtues in two extremely different philosophies.
The traditional values of being a person of good character being the common denominator here.
The details dividing the two belief systems, seem to be a matter of taste.
What do you think?

Fr. J.
I appreciate your interest in my question, and would like to extend my humblist apologizies to you for not asking my question in a manner in which you could, stick to the point.
One of which is, "did you read the book"?
and also, with the given, common denominator being, that if both "RELIGIONS" fundamentally "TEACH"
the values of being a person of good character (virtuous) would the details be simply a matter of taste.
I thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The story of the birth of the Buddha was known in the West, and possibly influenced the story of the birth of Jesus. Saint Jerome (4th century CE) mentions the birth of the Buddha, who he says "was born from the side of a virgin". Also a fragment of Archelaos of Carrha (278 CE) mentions the Buddha's virgin-birth.

Two different belief systems? I definitely have to get this book especially since "the Dao that can be told is not constant Dao."... must be a scientific fact?

Yes we have two belief systems: The observable and the unobservable. We usually called the observable science, and the unobservable are things are given to us by revelation.

It is clear that the Christian bible is revelation. It starts with God who existed before He created everything we can observe. That means that God is in both the observable and the unobservable.

But what about the Dao. Actually Dao and De. Do we get to the Dao or De by observation? No. All eighty one chapters are not scientific facts or theories. Take chapter 81 and see if that is a scientific theorem.

Philosophies? Jesus is a philosopher? Does this mean Lao Zi is a prophet?

Before I continue to over state my point, I would have prefer that you would have included one the "parallel" sayings.

Answer: Jesus is not a philosopher (any Christian can tell you that) and neither is Lao Zi. The only parallelism is in the mind of the reader, a poorly informed reader.

One more comment: I love the Dao De Jing of Lao Zi. It sits by my bed next to my bible.

Loa Tzu is Satan in disguise and you can't compare NOTHING to Jesus Christ.
God Bless.
