First of all, I am a Catholic, not an Evangelical Christian

Most Evangelicals I know believe in the instantous creation of the world. With the overwhelming evidence of eveloution, does the belief of theistic evolution not make more sense?

Some things in the Bible are not meant to be taken literally, for example, the earth is referred to as flat, yet very few Evangelicals believe that (there are still a very few groups who believe in a flat earth).

I think what he means is that in the old test., there are many verses that refer to a flat earth.

people who claim the Bible says the earth is flat are mislead and need to read better. it says for corners yes this is true however that was not in referance to a flat earth. for corners was refering to north south east west. edge of the earth yes it says this as well. however that again is not refering to there being an edge it is refering to the edge were the land meets the water.

anyways as for evangelical christians first evangelical is for those who go around spreading the Word of God to everyone. and can be of many different beliefs.

The Bible does not refer to a flat earth.
Creation took seven days as it states in the book of Genesis.
The Bible is to be taken to say what it means and means what it says.

What " overwhelming evidence"?

Where in the Bible is the word "flat" used to describe the earth?

True, some things aren't meant to be taken literally; like when Jesus took the bread and said " this is my body".

The earth is never referred to as flat..in fact quite the opposite...AND there is no OVERWHELMING evidence in evolution.THE only "eveidence" for evolution is NO evidence, if that even counts... If everything just happened "randomly" then the thoughts you just thought were random and how would you know if you were even thinking correctly?????

I have no problem with time lines since scripture does tell us
-One day is like 1,000 years,
(2Pet.3:8. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. )
so if it took 7 literal days or seven thousand I can accept either one !

Why am I even bothering to answer this question?

You have obviously been VERY mislead. That is too darn bad, I'll pray for you.

Tsk tsk, you've been believing too much of what you hear lately my friend, TOO MUCH.

God bless and may he turn your eyes to the TRUTH.

Actually the Bible calls the earth round thousands of years before that discovery.....

And actually there is more and more scientists everyday rejecting evolution.

The Bible is literal from cover to cover, i think.
