It's true that each verb has its own passé composé ending, but one ending that is relatively common in this group is "-u".

connaître/conclu - vendre/vendu - battre/battu - boire/bu - entendre/entendu - pendre/pendu - conclure/conclu - descendre/descendu - lire/lu ...

You've still got to learn each one or you'll trip over "mettre" and "dire", among others. But yes, "-u" does turn up a lot.

yes... the end of the verbs depends of the verbs... for exemple: prendre (pris), rendre (rendu), faire (fait), croire (cru), mettre (mis), perdre (perdu), mordre (mordu), taire (tu), permettre (permis), tendre (tendu), prétendre (prétendu), attendre (attendu), dire (dit), être (été), vendre (vendu)...
The french grammar is quite difficult for this category of verbs... You just have to learn them, or to follow your "feeling" to find the good answer... Good luck !!!
