IF you mean a cortisone shot, then it's not for pain but to reduce the inflammation that causes pain. It does nothing for the causes of the pain and nothing therefore to slow down a disease process.

There are plenty of potential side effects of cortisone. In addition, you can't have more than 2 or 3 such injections in any area of the body without having it do serious damage to the bones and soft tissues in that area.

Cortisone is not a cure and it's not a treatment for any type of illness or injury. While a single shot is no miracle cure, it's not necessarily going to do you much harm. But you must insist on continuing to investigate the problem, on continuing to find out what the actual problem is, so that you and your health care team can begin to finds ways for you to manage your actual problem

Many years ago I hurt my shoulder, and had a cortisone shot, what they do not tell you is for the next few day where ever you had the shot will hurt worse than ever and then the pain goes away completely unless you injure your self again. I do understand that they limit the amount , because it may affect your liver, but I am only guessing about that

I did not have any side effects from Cortizone years ago when I had one in my shoulder. It was just a liitle sore for a few days. I felt relief before the day was up though.

Cortizone is a steriod injection given to relieve swelling and inflamation. It can cause the following symptoms: sweating, red face, hunger, itching, weight gain, water weight retention, anger, tunnel vision, head aches, and more... it is not a good thing to have in your body and can take two years or more for it to come out of your body.
