I have recently answered several questions for people looking for puppies. I said to go to the American Kennel Club web site, but I didn't give complete details.
Go to that site, cllick on "Future Dog Owners" then click on "Breeder Refereal" and it will give the parent club e-mail address for that breed where breeders are listed.
Sorry for any misunderstandings.

Another great place to get information on a great Breeder is from the veterinarian in your area they know many of the Best Breeders and their reputations more so than any CLUB or organization. If the Breeders are what they claim to be the area vets will know them and how many puppies they turn over a year and what type setting the pups are in.Just because someone registers with a certain registry does not mean that they are absolutely checked on a regular bases.I personally know AKC Breeders that make their living raising puppies and they have never had a face to face visit with any one from any registry???Don't depend solely on someone hiding behind a single piece of paper. And a Club Member.Anyone can become a Club Member for a fee.

An even better idea is to send them to the national breed club website where they will be likely to find the good breeders. Some of the breeders on the AKC site are questionable.

Mcnatt - The breed clubs generally do not accept just anyone. At least in my club, you have to agree to a code of ethics and have recommendations from two other members.

I hope that people do actually go there! However, from the questions and answers we all have been seeing on here lately, too many people are going to find their pure-bred, CKC (or APRI, etc) puppies on nextdaypets.com or some other BYB and puppy mill site because they are sooooo much cheaper! So what if they are going to be sickly and die at an early age, but they wouldn't have paid too much!!!!

Sorry, I'll get off my soap box!
