My male cat is more affectionate towards me and everyone else in my family! Where as my female walks around with her nose in the air so to speak and only is affectionate when she wants to be so i would say to stick with a male cat!

Male cats are more affectionate. The female cats love to be alone more than the male.

Hi. 2 cats live here. The black male cat here is much friendlier and much more affectionate than the female tabby here. Just remember, though, that each cat has a different personality...just as each person has a different personality. Take care.

Years ago I had three male cats - all unfixed. They were great! Never had any type of problem with them and although they weren't all lap cats, they were affectionate. A few years ago (at a different time) I had two female cats. One pooed all over the house - got rid of it. Got other one fixed - she became possessive over my daughter and after her boyfriend started coming over a lot, she peed on the LEATHER COUCH - repeatedly! Got rid of her. I now have two male cats. Both are fixed, both are GREAT! They are lapcats to the point of being pestery about it. One likes to be the center of attention when we have company. He'll flop in the middle of the floor and stretch real big - then he'll look around to see who's paying attention. Then he'll find the person who likes cats the least, and climb into their lap! He's great! The other greats me every morning when I open the bedroom door (they're not allowed to sleep with us) and as I walk through the kitchen, he'll flop down under my feet and roll over on his back for petting. I'm afraid one of these days I'm going to step on him because he'll pick right where my foot's about to land to flop down!! He's great, too! Boys all the way!!! My daughter had to get rid of one of her female cats because it started peeing on all the things they bought for a new baby. The other is pretty anti-social.

You cant tell effection by just gender. You have to make a bond with the cat. If you are debating which to get then my advice is. Just go in the petstore and look at the cats. Beleive me, I have 3 cats, when the perfect cat ot cars for you come around then you will know it.
hope i could help

I've had both female and male cats, and have always found the male to be friendlier, if they are fixed. I had a female once that was a great cat until she had her babies. After I gave her babies away she went nuts. I finally had to give her to the SPCA
Regardless whether you get male or female, make sure you get it fixed. You'll be glad you did.

My males are more affectionate. My only female scratches everyone who comes near her, except me. If you get a female, make sure it's not more than a few months old. If it's a baby, it'll be more affectionate, like mine.

I've heard the males are more affectionate and more likely to lay in your lap and just sit there. Females are a bit more skittish.
