convincing to get a cellphone?

Question

okay well i dont have a cellphone yet and my parents said i couldnt get one until the beginning of the school year but it depends on my behavior while we are on summer vacation...

but they are putting me through major torcher
because i have to pass this major exam to get into a really good school
lets just say my whole socail life is like non-exisistent right now and i am under so much stress

so at the end of the year
should i be like...
i have worked so hard to get in this school [even if i dont get in]
and i think i deserve this reward
and my birthday is in the middle of the vacation so can i get one if i have good behavior for the first half and then it will help me get through the second half cause that will be when im really missing texas and everything
and i think i have waited long enough...try like 2 years


what do you think i should say...or just what do you think?

Stop talking about the cellphone. It just makes you seem childish and immature. Stop talking about it and make them see that you have moved on. The problem I see with their methodology is they are too closely linking your success in one area with a "reward." Some of that is ok and useful but the mix of these two issues doesn't seem right, to me. At any rate, again, if you keep making a big deal of the cellphone, you give them their weapon of choice to use against you. I think they are wrong to approach it in this way, as you should want to be successful without the cellphone being "on the line."

My daughter and her friend have mobile phones.They are 12.Its mainly for emergencies.Its up to your parents.
