I'm not sure where you get the idea the water is rising... If you think global warming is causing the ice caps to melt, therefore causing the water to rise, consider this.
Actually the temperature of the earth has increased less than 7/10 of 1 degree (C) from 1880 to 2005. That is an increase of about 1 degree (F) in 125 years. You may choose to believe that is global warming or you may not. Source: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. Some say that 1 degree is enough to impact the global climate, others say it's not. Most proponents of global warming think the earth's temperature has risen much more than that and don't even know that it has only risen by 1 degree. But the charts do not lie as do the proponents on both sides of this issue. The average temperature in the Antarctica is 109 degrees below zero. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctica#Climate It seems to me 108 below (one degree warmer) is still pretty cold and not enough to melt anything. But there are those that say it will. Even if it would melt some it wouldn't raise the water level. Try this experiment. Take a glass and fill it 1/2 full of water. Then put enough ice cubes in it to fill the glass. Leave it out on the counter and let the ice melt. Did the glass fill up any more and run over? Of course not and neither will the ice caps, if they were melting, cause the water levels to rise.
Back in the '70s all the hype was about global COOLING and another ice age was coming. I remember that they blamed pollution for that too. They said that all the pollution was darkening the skies and not as much sun was coming through so the earth was cooling off. It took many years to discover that they were mistaken and it was all just hype. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling So when someone says, "the sky is falling" don't believe everything you hear on either side of the issue. There are Spin Doctors galore out there.
Most of the time people will form an opinion and not really be informed about the subject with which they become so opinionated about. So it's best that you not form your opinions from other's opinions, (as in this forum) but on the facts presented. (Many do not provide any proof or links to prove their point, just their opinion.) With that said we do have a responsibility to do our part by doing whatever is within your power to keep our planet alive and well.
I hope that helps...

Our planet is far too over populated. Wouldn't it be better if our governments were to better regulate the birth rate. We aren't very good at coping now with diseases, wars and among other things starvation. On top of all that we are greedy, waste full, and are becoming more and more selfish. But that's not entirely our fault, by which I mean that we have been driven to act this way and it's not nice for anyone, unless you are fortunate to live in a wealthy country. Don't let us wreck another world lets try and fix the one we live in. If it's not too late.

well the moon is definatly out. i'd say we're more likely to do another few trips round the planets and invade one of those..seen as we stuffed this one up...or we could do a kevin costner and live in the sea.
as for the population rising..well someone once said the more the merrier but then that was answered with...silence is golden

We could build sea platforms!!!! or floating towns like in waterworld.
Either that or build colonies on the moon, as recent evidence points towards water existing there (see http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2005/14apr_moonwater.htm)
oh, and the sea level will probably rise, mostly due to the thermal expansion of the seas as global temperatures go up.

There are plenty more habitable places on earth. We just have to be smart about it, and reduce our footprint on the places we live, and use the resources there effectively.

Well, I do like cheese. :)
We should all take stock in boats and cruise liners if that is the case. Forget real estate! Houseboats are the new thing!
