Just curious since I found out that most of the philosophers and thinkers of history weren't religious.

All kinds of people have high IQs, but when Jesus comes back to earth to talk us to heaven, is it really going to matter who can solve a math problem the fastest? No. the smartest people know that it's God they need to excell in anything. He is the reason we're here and if he never created us, you wouldn't even be here to ask this question, thank him. He's awesome.

This has nothing to do with IQ. Even some philosophers condemn themselves. Isn't it a foolish idea for a finite man to debate with an infinite God? You will need to pay for your sins. There is no escape. If only you have listened to your conscience, that you are in need of mercy, then you would repent and be forgiven.

This is what God's inspired Word, the Bible has to say about such things:

1 Corinthians 1 verse 18-24

I know very well how foolish the message of the cross sounds to those who are on the road to destruction. But we who are being saved recognise this message as the very power of God. As the Scriptures say,

"I will destroy human wisdom
and discard their most brilliant ideas."

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world's brilliant debaters? God has made them all look foolish and has shown their wisdom to be useless nonsense. Since God in His wisdom saw to it that the world would never find Him through human wisdom, He has used our foolish preaching to save all who believe. God's way seems foolish to the Jews because they want a sign from heaven to prove it is true. And it is foolish to the Greeks because they believe only what agrees with their own wisdom. So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended, and the Gentiles say it's all nonsense. But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the mighty power of God and the wonderful wisdom of God. This "foolish" plan of God is far wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God's wisdom is far stronger than the greatest of human strength.

Romans chapter 1 verse 18-20

But God shows His anger from Heaven against all sinful, wicked people who push the truth away from themselves. For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts. From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see His invisilbe qualities-His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God!

Really? I found that the overwelming majority of philosophers and thinkers of history were devoutly religious. I wonder where you came up with your information? Or did you just make an assumption?

IQ tests reveal a persons ability to learn and has nothing to do with belief or unbelief.

You don't need a high IQ to be a good philosopher, just a good imagination.

:
1 Cor 1:25-29
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

Hello dan.. :)

Someone may have a higher IQ than someone else..but it is the kindness and gentlesness of one's heart, that truly matters..not ones intelligence.. :)

1 Corinthians 3

18 ¶ Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God: for it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise,
that they are vain.

21 Therefore let no man glory in men: for all things are yours;

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

I.Q. refers to the amount of information one's brain is able to absorb and process, religious beliefs don't have a bearing on it.

Any one who has the sense to question as opposed to accepting things at face value is more intelligent. Ergo, agnostics are more intelligent.
