Its been a year, and my cat keeps crying all the time. Can't afford a vet. She cry continuously for 5-6 days, then stops for a few days, then back to crying. Sometimes there is white stuff I notice on her back legs. She a year old, is this normal for cat? Is she in pain?

Hi there...your cat may very well be in heat if she hasn't been spayed. Cats become sexually mature over the ages of 5-7 months and while in heat caterwaul (howl loudly) to let male cats know she is receptive to being mated. Spaying her will be the only way to resolve the constant meowing as well as prevent unwanted pregnancy as well as mammary, uterine, ovarian cancer. Each time a cat goes into heat they are put at higher risk for the cancers.

Most shelters worldwide offer low fee spays and sometimes some will offer free spays depending on the particpating facility. If you are located in the USA you can ring 1-800-SPAY USA http://spayusa.org to locate a nearby participating shelter.

My cat also meowed constantly. I know what kind of agony you are going through. :)

First off, if you can't afford a vet you can go to the SPCA and they have vouchers so you can get her spayed. Some vets even offer a monthly payment program for people with low incomes so they can pay $5 a month until the bill is paid off. When a cat becomes spayed, she calms down as her hormones are not raging. It'll take about 70 days for her hormones to calm down but you might see a huge change in her personality! She may just turn into a big happy lap cat!

There is absolutely no excuse for not taking her to a vet. Plus, it is NOT fair to your cat. What if she gets really sick? Mow lawns. Sell some items. As I said, the SPCA has programs to help people who cannot afford a vet. I have no idea what that white stuff might be. It could be anything from dander to an infection some kind. What is the white stuff like? Is it flaky or is it liquidy?

She very well could just be in heat. Get her fixed and see if that helps. It usually does. :)

A couple of things - if she is not spayed, she may be going into heat or have a hormonal inbalance. If you are seeing a white substance on her legs, however, she could have worms or her anal glands may be plugged, both of which can be very painful. If you find she is ok medically, you need to consider getting her a companion kitten to play with. She may just be lonely

you need to get her to a vet borrow some money and take her obviously she is in heat and the white stuff you see could be pus coming from her from infection please do a word search online for pyometra this sounds like what she has it is a very fatal disease and the only cure for it is spaying...just because your cat is an inside cat doesnt mean she doesnt need spayed it proven that cats live longer and healthier once they are spayed
