Question for Americans:
Fortunately I go to Québec often enough to stock up on horsemeat roasts and steaks which are sold in most supermarkets and public markets there.
Are there any American meat packers or supermarkets that offer (for sale in the USA - I know that most of the horsemeat sold in Europe is from the US) horsemeat for human consumption? Any artisan butcher shops in your area that do so?

Answerers who claim it is illegal throughout the USA are mistaken. A bill to do so last year did not pass both houses of Congress. But there are some states that do prohibit it (e.g. California by ballot initiative, Texas by recent court order). Too bad; it is tasty and nutritious and low fat. Those of you who have emotional issues about eating horse should remember that swine also make for intelligent (and easily housebroken) loyal pets for people who wish to have them as such.
