Hi there.. I need some advice with colors that I should be picking for my living/dinning area. I am planning to give a traditional look.
Color of walls: Off-white
Floor: Tiled and off-white
Color of Sofa: Beige microfibre
Color of Center Area Rug:Traditional design with Red-Beige-Green
Dinning Table: Traditional design w/ rust metal
End/Center Tables: Mahogony wood & rust metal.

There are 4 very large windows in the combined living/dinning area of my house and colors picked will play a major role in defining the room and moods. So I am highly confused about picking the curtain color. I feel dark shades will make the room look small and i am not sure about lighter shaded curtains as everything else has light shades. If there are websites which could be of help, please post them as well. Any sort of advice will be highly appreciated.

Since you have a monochromatic theme (floors, walls, sofa) consider the same for your drapes in a mid-range neutral textured pattern such as a jacquard damask (site posted below for you to look through). The other traditional option would be a stripe on stripe Dupioni silk pulling the colors from your rug, in a muted tone (site posted below). If you choose not to use a valance and depending on whether you have molding around your windows, consider a chunky mahogany rod and rings so the eye is pulled around the room (tables to rods) which makes the room cohesive. Place the rods near the ceiling (again, don't know about the molding) and the area will look larger. Since we don't know the color/texture of the chairs, you can add color with throw pillows. Have fun and hope you find something you love. Also, Penny's always has sales and a good selection of fabrics.

You want traditonal but you need to add color to make the room pop - Pull the red out of the rug. I would use a window topper -a scarf would look great with a nice rod. You can get all kinds and colors. If you use the toppers, it will make the room appear larger and make it brighter - will let more light come in. Use with blinds; I love white plantation shutters; acutally just wide blinds. Very classy. I myself do not care for veritical blinds...very 80's. Or if you go for curtains, use pretty rods. Go with a pretty color or better yet. Use a print. That would be gorgeous. Accent with colors to match the curtains.
Good Luck

depending on what and who see's what meaning neighbors able to see you in your home or your out in the country, myself I like the open and let the sun shine in attitude so I would pick a valance with a swag and if you do have the neighbors a nice metal horizontal blind in an off-white would look nice. Too bad with those off white walls, i'd put some color to them, but I think a spruce green or a creamy yellow would look nice, most of all stick with the valance and swag whatever color, good luck

If I were you, I would probably pull either the red or the green from the carpet and get curtains with that in it, perhaps with some light pattern in it. You do need something that isn't brown or some variation thereof.

I think you might find a helpful link from DIY.COM.

Good luck!

I'd go with a green/beige color. It would go with the green on the carpet and the beige on the couch. Same color for curtains. It would look pretty good. I would look at wal-mart.(www.walmart.com). That's what my living room looks like.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/zxv1W
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

I would go with either the red or green color from the carpet to brighten up the room. It won't make the room look smaller, just brighter. :)

Bring the cushion from the couch in with you.

Match to that, at the store.
