It really depends on the reason for the tooth ache. Take some Advil or Motrin for the pain and try not to stimulate the tooth with cold, hot, or air. Would help if you were a little more specific with the problem.
Don't listen to Mickey, an aspirin will burn the inside of your mouth and cause the tooth to die if it's not doing that already.

A lot of it depends on what is wrong with the tooth, where the tooth is located in the mouth, and your pain threshold.
Ambesol will usually give brief but quick relief. What works even better (but harder to come by) is Hurricaine gel and/or spray. Alcohol containing products may also deaden the pain briefly. (Clove oil is an old wife's treatment, which works because of its high alcohol percentage.)
If you are 18yrs old and aren't taking any other pain medications, consider taking 800mg (4 of the OTC tablets, which are 200mg each) of ibuprofen. Studies show it is as effective or more effective than Tylenol 3.
Check the tooth in the mirror. Does it have a hole/break in it? Is there food stuck in it? If you see anything stuck in/around the tooth, see if you can remove it. That will help a great deal. If you can see a hole in the tooth, some places still sell the stuff to make a temporary filling.
Lastly, there are some acupressure points on the face and hands that can be manipulated and it will reduce the pain.
It is hard to describe, but there is a point in the webbing between your thumb and forefinger that will help reduce pain from your upper teeth. It feels like a little nubbin in the tissue there, and if you rub it gently, you may get some relief.
There is also a few spots along your lower jaw that can help alleviate lower jaw pain. One is the notch you can feel on the underside of your jaw, about 1" from your neck going forward. The other is about 2 fingers up from the back curve of your jaw, towards your ear. Be gentle as you rub both.
Good luck, and if it gets worse, consider finding a dentist that is open weekends, or the ER if it gets intolerable. Whatever you do, see a dentist Monday.

Ouch, sorry you're in so much pain sweetie, I know how bad a toothache can hurt and it's horrible. You could try some clove oil if you've got any in the house, or if not, bite down on a wet teabag with the sore tooth, the tannin in the teabag helps with the pain. Sometimes ice helps, try holding an ice cube next to the sore tooth. I hope you manage to get an appointment tomorrow, there's nothing worse than toothache. And yes, you can get a cavity in a tooth that already has a filling in it, either a new cavity in a "clean" bit of tooth, or more decay around and underneath the filling that's already there.

If its caused from a hole, that wax for braces works wonders, roll up a small piece and stick it in the hole. Keeps the air out and takes the pain away. Ibuprofren works well too.

if the source of the ache is a cavity, then hold an aspirin or tylenol firmly over the cavity with your finger til the pill is disolved. It will work, but dont do it too much because it will irritate the inside of your cheek. if you have any oil of cloves, it will also give temporary relief.
