i have a little roudy SUPER-energetic 5 year old sister
you can: [some for girls, some for boys, some for both]
-play soccer in the back yard
-dress-ups
-movies of course..near bed time
-hide-and go seek
-put on a play
-read books
-build forts
and when you get to the house they will probably have something to do already

Watch t.v., DDR, color, make forts, play dolls, Read, play video games, dress up, play house, baby dolls, put on make up, do makovers on you, listen to music, make up dances, play on piano, key bord, drums, Play with clay/playdoh, art projects, pertend games, play on the computer, go shopping, sports, eat, Sleep, Cut paper, Talk, pick out outfits for you to wear, bake, HAVE FUN

teach them something new and they'll love you for it. . basically, anything NEW is exciting to them. show them how to make lemonade for example
go on sesame street's website on the net and have them play educational games, draw, listen to stories etc. that alone will keep them entertained for HOURS
they love video games, educational games, toys, stories and most of all to LAUGH

Play video games WITH them...not just watch them. Read to them, build a fort with them (easy to do with blankets and chairs from the kitchen table). My 8 yr. old loves it when I ride bikes with him, and lets him help me cook.

Girl or boy? Girls tend to like to color, listen to music, play games. Boys might prefer sports and fort-building.
