Don you think my mom is right in punishing me?

I'm 12, a month ago my mom got me some bras. I didn't enjoy that thing but mom said I needed one and I had no choice. She helped me choose my bras, was very patient, treated me with love but forced me to wear one. After I tried on a bunch I said I didnt want to wear one but mom just said Hun, this option you dont have. Not fair, but I got stuck to a bra. Yesterday I took it off and put it in my purse, didnt want to wear. But I had a so terrible lucky that I forgot to put it on before getting back home and mom found out
what I did. She didn't get so mad, but said what I did was wrong. So, I have to write 20 times a text she dictated to me about why I shouldn't do what I did. It's not that long, I've written 10 times and took a break. I told mom I had written enough, she didn't agree but at least said OK kun, 15 times is enough and you're free, but promise me you won't do that again. I promised, must
agree it wasn't a harsh punishment, but wasnt it unfair anyway? I dont like bras.

That wasn't a harsh punishment at all. You should listen to your mom. If she thinks you need to wear a bra with your age, then you should wear it. Only your mom knows you better than you. You may want to consider on asking your mom if you can wear a sports bra instead, they are more comfortable and they do come in different colors too.

Besides, if you start wearing one now, you will soon get use to the idea of wearing a bra....just think about it, you will wear one in your teens, adult years etc....so you might as well get used to them. Believe me, I went through that already. Just do as your mom tells you to do and don't worry what your friends say either. You are just growing up! (smile)

It was just a very soft lesson for you about discipline and listening to your mother. You are only 12 and your mother can tell that you need a bra. Even though they are uncomfortable for you, you must consider the reasons why you should be wearing a bra. The biggest reason is probably the fact that your mother doesnt want men, perverts, etc looking at your stuff just jiggling or digging on the protrusion that your nipples might create. I hate to say it but most men are perverted in this way and they will ogle at a young woman in these circumstances. To the extreme, you may get ogled by the wrong person who may get into their mind to want to do something harmful to you because they got extremely turned on by being able to see what they see. When you turn 18 and you still feel the same way, you will be an adult in charge of your own life and you will then have the option of going braless.

I agree with your mom. I hated wearing bras when I was young too, but the fact is, you're growing up and everyone has to go along with those changes.

There ARE creeps out there in the world, and I think writing something 15 times, is a very small price to pay - if it keeps you from being targeted by perverts.

What you did by taking off your bra, was wrong, and you should listen to your mother on this. She's doing it because she loves you....

I think it was a more than fair punishment. To me that would not have been a punishment at all. I'm sorry hun but guess what you are a girl and they have boobs therefore boobs have to be held in by a bra. Something you might not think about is that if your nipple shows through your shirt this could be some type of an arousal for some sicko that could try to do something to you. So wear a bra ok.

Please???? there will be far bigger issues to deal with in your life. Your mum sounds like she is very loving and has bought you a bra for a reason. Far better she cares than to let you fumble your way through puberty alone. I think you need to remember you are 12, What are you going to do when you get your period if you don't like pads? You can not stall the growing process best you except it and move on, like I said as soon as next week I am sure you will find something bigger and better to worry about. If you have enough to fill in a bra then you really should wear one. There are some that are very comfortable to wear. Also, your clothing will look better if you are wearing a bra.

Why do you not like wearing them is the next logical question/ if you can figure out why, comfort, looks, you can work on that, but to say I do not like it is not a reason is just stubborn, and your mother is right if you are big enough for her to notice then you need to wear a bra. be an adult and start thinking like one

i was the same way as you at 12 but have been wearing bras for about a year and a half (i am 13 in may) and now i wont take my bras off
when you get comfortable with wearing one it will feel wierd not to. sometimes i sleep with it it is so comfortable. when i take a bra off i feel wierd because it makes your boobs look pointy and they look bad

You better learn to like a bra , if you don't wear one your breasts will be hanging down to your belly button at the age of 30. Keep searching, you will find one that is comfortable for your figure and you want mind wearing it then. Be glad she didn't ground you or spank your butt for disobeying her. This isn't the 70's anymore, I am sure you will get use to wearing one.

No it sounds pretty unfair.This is your choice to wear a bra. I think i told you before that you can wear singlet type bras. Is your mum very strict?A schoolteacher? Some girls are very conscious of their breasts. I have run out of things to suggest.Or are you just rebelling against your mum?
